The Lhasa-Nagqu Expressway opens to traffic
World’s highest expressway has been opened to traffic. The Lhasa-Nagqu Expressway connecting Lhasa and the city of Nagqu in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region went into operation on Aug. 21, with the opening of the final 227-km section between Nagqu and Yangbajain. CCCC constructed some 85 km of the section. The Yangbajain-Lhasa section of the expressway came into service in October last year.

Karachi Deepwater Port Container Terminal Storage Yard and House-building Project Phase 2 in Pakistan delivered to SAPT
The storage yard of the CHEC-undertaken Karachi Deepwater Port Container Terminal Storage Yard and House-building Project Phase 2 in Pakistan has been delivered to South Asia Pakistan Terminals (SAPT). The project is an expansion of the first phase, mainly to build the automated container yard. ZPMC provided 11 automated wheel cranes for the yard. The project is the largest deep-water port terminal in Pakistan, with a 1,500-meter-long frontage and 468,000 sq m of storage area. The port area is designed with an annual throughput of 3.1 million TEUs, which will benefit Pakistan’s trade development.

Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport officially went into operation
The starfish-shaped Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport officially went into operation in Qingdao, east China’s Shandong Province on Aug. 12. The Qingdao New Airport High-Speed Connecting Line, partly built by CCCC as a major transport support project for the airport, also came into service that day. The 9.8-km connecting line is composed of three traffic systems including expressways, viaduct expressways and ground roads.

Bole International Airport serves over 10,000 passengers on a daily basis
Located in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, Bole International Airport is one of the largest transit points for passengers in Africa, serving more than 10,000 passengers on a daily basis. The new terminal building of the project, which CCCC started to construct in 2015, has been put into operation. Upon completion of the first phase of the project, the T2 terminal building’s passenger handling capacity will rise from 7 to 22 million per year. Construction of the project brought forth a number of job opportunities for local people.
