33 journalists from 32 countries including Egypt, Uganda, and Liberia visited the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge in Jiangsu Province constructed by CCCC's Second Harbor Engineering.

On March 23rd, as part of the 2024 "Travelogue of China", 33 journalists from 32 countries including Egypt, Uganda, and Liberia visited the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge in Jiangsu Province constructed by CCCC's Second Harbor Engineering. They had the opportunity to explore the bridge firsthand, engage in discussions, and interact with the project team to gain a comprehensive understanding of this remarkable structure set to achieve several world records.
A journalist delegation embarked on a tour of the latest dredging in Taihu Lake, unlocking the ecological secrets of clear water and green shores; they checked off their visit to the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge with several world records; and they had a firsthand look at the world's largest and most comprehensive research and manufacturing base for tunnel boring machines.

The project employs the "Taihu Star," the world's first ecological dredging intelligent integrated platform ship developed by CCCC. It integrates dredging, sludge solidification, and wastewater treatment into one intelligent, efficient, and environmentally friendly dredging equipment. It is the world's first ship of its kind.
The journalists expressed that China's "ecological governance model" for rivers and lakes holds significant value for other countries. Mohamed El Atigh, a journalist from Mauritania, stated that the day they visited Taihu Lake happened to be World Water Day! Cleaning up and ecologically managing the lake water demonstrates China's proactive attitude towards environmental protection.
Sami Kaidi, a journalist from Algeria, said, Currently, Algeria is carrying out dredging operations on an important river valley in the capital, hoping to learn from China's experience in this field.
Changtai Yangtze River Bridge
Stretching over a distance of 10.03 kilometers, the bridge links Changzhou and Taizhou, with a 5.3-kilometer section accommodating both road and rail. Positioned between Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge and Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge, it's the world's first to combine expressways, intercity railways, and regular roads as a river-crossing route. Boasting a main span of 1,208 meters, it holds the record for the world's longest span for a cable-stayed bridge, while its main tower, reaching 350 meters, is the tallest pylon for a cable-stayed bridge under construction globally.
The journalists visit the bridge renderings
The journalists watched short films illustrating the construction process, engineering techniques, and technological advancements of the bridge. They were particularly intrigued by the use of the world's highest-strength bridge cables and the largest-scale carbon fiber composite cables, eagerly touching and experiencing these innovative materials supporting the construction of this massive project.

Journalists commended China's modern and intelligent high-tech bridge construction methods, along with the high standards of engineering, expressing admiration for the ingenuity of Chinese engineers.
A journalist from Tunisia's La Press said that the bridge is unparalleled and is a remarkable engineering feat that showcases China's impressive R&D capabilities in bridge construction.
A journalist from Algeria's EL Moudjahid stated that it is an incredible experience to visit the bridge. Not only is it China's largest bridge under construction, but it's also unmatched worldwide.
The female editor-in-chief of Gabon 24 said, we're truly impressed by the professionalism, technology, and craftsmanship of the bridge. It will positively impact employment, the market economy, and commerce, making travel easier for both sides.
CCCC's research and manufacturing base for tunnel boring machines
CCCC provides the market with high-quality tunnel boring machines (TBM), including world-leading technologies such as the ultra-large-diameter TBM with extended excavation distances without tool changing and new pressure-injection construction methods. It is also committed to promoting continuous development in tunneling technology and construction methods, advancing the intelligent, unmanned, and green excavation of TBM.
The TBM developed by CCCC is not only widely used in tunnel engineering construction in China but have also been introduced to countries such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, and Singapore.
Héribert-Label Elisée ADJOVI, the governor of the Beninese magazine Le Label Diplomatique, said, seeing the development of high-end Chinese technology, we believe that projects of China-Africa cooperation can help Africa achieve better development.
