Recently, a "Thousands of Engineers Enter the Classroom" activity was held at Dobrica Erić High School in Knić, Serbia, where engineers met with students and sparked their interest in engineering.
Dalibor, an engineer with the Tobnica wastewater treatment plant, gave a lesson to nearly 50 students on modern wastewater treatment, drawing on his experience with the project. He explained that wastewater treatment involves more than just a treatment plant. It is a complete system that requires collaboration among specialists in areas such as civil, mechanical, electrical, biology, and surveying. At the end of the lesson, he discussed questions such as "Is being a civil engineer interesting?" and "Why choose a career in civil engineering?" with the students.
After the lesson, project representatives donated balls, paintbrushes, drawing books and a wireless speaker for outdoor classes to the school.
Jelisaveta, a teacher at the school, said the lesson had helped students better understand the project and the engineering profession. She thanked the project team for the donated supplies and for inviting students to visit the construction site.
