Recently, a testing train on the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project successfully raised its speed to 176 km/h on the section from Kota Bharu Station, the line's starting point, to Sultan Ahmad Shah City Station, 10 percent above the design speed of 160 km/h.

The step-by-step speed increase test is a key part of dynamic testing. Running the train at 110 percent of the designed speed provides a comprehensive assessment of the safety performance, operational stability and compatibility of the track, power supply, signaling, communication and other systems under high-speed conditions.

The successful completion of this milestone verified the safety and reliability of the railway line and its various operating systems within the designed speed margin. Next, the project will conduct the Automatic Train Protection (ATP) type test and comprehensive functional tests of the signaling system.
