Why are millions of migratory birds completely at ease near this massive construction project? The Hangzhou Bay Cross-Sea Railway Bridge, built by CCCC, lies next to the Hangzhou Bay National Wetland Park. Here's how the team is protecting the birds' habitats.

Construction schedules are adjusted to avoid the birds' active breeding and migration seasons. Vehicle speeds are limited to 30 km/h to reduce noise disturbance.

The team developed a prefabricated mud circulation platform that encloses the entire drilling, recycling, and treatment process, minimizing wastewater and slurry pollution. Locally sourced silt was also compacted into working platforms, cutting carbon emissions by 37,600 tonnes compared to conventional methods.

The bridge features an ultra-low flow resistance design, helping preserve tidal rhythms and protecting the marine habitat.

The result? A stunning harmony between a mega-project and nature, with egrets soaring and migratory birds playing.
