Built by CHEC, the Solomon Islands National Broadband Infrastructure Project has been completed, bringing unprecedented digital convenience to local communities.
"We now have online classes, so we can take many courses online," said Magritte, a student from a village in Makira-Ulawa Province, the Solomon Islands.
Built by CHEC, the Solomon Islands National Broadband Infrastructure Project has been completed, bringing unprecedented digital convenience to local communities.
The project covers 35 islands in the Solomon Islands, with 161 communications base stations built and put into operation. The network now reaches more than 200 communities, raising wireless communication coverage from less than 50 percent to over 80 percent.

Today, more than 200,000 residents in the Solomon Islands can enjoy stable, high-speed wireless internet services. Residents can access news and weather forecasts online, while businesses can improve work efficiency through internet connectivity, giving a strong boost to the country's social and economic development.
"After the base stations become operational, we can conduct remote teaching online, making educational resources more accessible," said a local teacher named O'Byrne.
"Before, we had to walk a long way to visit relatives, which was especially difficult in windy or rainy weather. Now that the base stations are up and running, we can simply make a video call and see each other," said a local resident.
