Colombo Port City recently hosted the second China Cultural Night, attracting more than 200 guests from various sectors in Sri Lanka and China, with 15 major media outlets covering the event.
Colombo Port City is regarded as a flagship project of practical cooperation between China and Sri Lanka. China Cultural Night has gradually become a branded cultural event showcasing traditional Chinese culture. The Colombo Port City is evolving into a comprehensive platform integrating trade, cultural and social exchanges, playing a role in promoting bilateral cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
At the performance venue, a Bai ethnic performing arts troupe from Dali in China's Yunnan Province presented 13 programs featuring distinctive ethnic elements. Through a blend of music and dance, the performances highlighted the landscapes of Dali, the traditions of Bai culture and aspects of daily life.
At a parallel event held in the duty-free retail area, guests experienced demonstrations of traditional tie-dye craftsmanship and the three-course tea ceremony, both recognized as part of China's intangible cultural heritage, offering closer engagement with traditional Chinese culture.
