In Serbia, over four years, CCCCers have not only constructed bridges and tunnels but also carefully woven emotional bonds between the peoples of the two countries.
Before the Spring Festival, project colleagues visited local employee Boris's home with Spring Festival couplets and "Fu (Blessing)" characters. Together they put up the couplets and wrote the character for "Fu", filling the Serbian household with Chinese New Year spirit. Boris's family warmly welcomed them with traditional Serbian dishes.
The canteen was especially lively during the Winter Solstice. Chinese and Serbian engineers taught each other their culinary skills—Chinese dumplings and Serbian pizza were made amidst laughter, and this fusion of flavors was delivered to the construction site, giving builders a taste of "home."
The project team has also warmed hearts through "small but meaningful" community projects: filling a deep pit that had troubled the family of Elder Milorad for generations and repairing the path Elder Milovan uses to visit old friends, making daily life easier for residents.
Taking practical actions to shine a light on education, the project team built a 50-meter covered spectator stand for a local school, renovated the school gym, and donated sports equipment and books on Children's Day, safeguarding the children's dreams of growth.
