Recently, the electric multiple units (EMUs) and electric locomotives for Malaysia's East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project have rolled off the production line in Dalian.
With blue-and-white color schemes and designs inspired by ocean waves, the EMUs feature stylized elements of Malaysian flora and fauna, reflecting regional identity in a dynamic, elegant design.
Built on intelligent, high-end, and lightweight principles, the trains use a network control system that monitors traction, high voltage, and auxiliary systems in real time for enhanced safety. The lightweight structure reduces energy use and boosts efficiency.
The driver's cab supports Malay, Chinese, and English display languages. Carriages include a dedicated prayer room, smart zoned air conditioning, an efficient air purification system, and noise-reduction features for a quiet, comfortable ride.
Spanning about 665 kilometers, the ECRL will significantly reduce travel time between Peninsular Malaysia's east and west coasts, improve logistics, and support inclusive regional economic growth.
