Once operational, the ECRL will serve as a major artery linking Malaysia's east and west coasts.

Recently, the breakthrough of the Terowong ECRL Serendah 2 marked the completion of the second longest tunnel on the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project in Malaysia.
Spanning 9.88 kilometers, the tunnel forms a critical part of the bridge connecting Kuantan Port on the east coast with Port Klang on the west coast, providing a seamless and efficient freight corridor.
Despite complex geological conditions, the project team adopted advanced tunneling technologies and maintained a high level of coordination to ensure the smooth progress of construction. In line with green construction principles, every effort was made to minimize deforestation and ecological impact on the Ulu Gombak Forest Reserve and the Serendah Forest Reserve.
To date, 84.4% of the ECRL has been completed, with a cumulative 17 million safe man-hours recorded. Once operational, the ECRL will serve as a major artery linking Malaysia's east and west coasts, acting as a powerful driver of the economic development of the east coast and generating significant economic and social benefits for communities along the route.
