Where history meets progress! Near Tanzania's Kilwa Kisiwani ruins, CHEC is building the nation's first large-scale fishing port.

Where history meets the future! In southeastern Tanzania, the ancient Ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani—once a thriving hub along the Maritime Silk Road—now gaze across the sea at a symbol of modern progress: Kilwa Fishing Harbor.
Constructed by CHEC, Kilwa Fishing Harbor is Tanzania's first large-scale modern fishing port. With a 315-meter quay and an annual fish handling capacity of 60,000 tonnes, the port is set to transform the region's fishing industry upon completion.
Beyond boosting the local economy, the project has created over 600 jobs and trained a large number of local technical workers through an apprenticeship model where Chinese mentors guide local trainees.
On the environmental front, the project team established a mangrove conservation area and launched a "Clean Beach Campaign" to protect the coastline.
"I believe that once the fishing port is completed, more people will come—both to see our history and to witness our new way of life," said local tour guide Daudi Gideon with hopeful anticipation.
