The Penang 275kV cross-sea transmission line project, undertaken by CHEC, has recently been awarded the Best Project Performance Award 2024 by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). The project was recognized for its excellent engineering management, high-quality delivery, and zero safety incidents.
The project is a key national power infrastructure project in Malaysia, aimed at optimizing the electricity transmission network in Penang and the surrounding region, enhancing the stability of energy supply. The transmission line must traverse a complex marine environment and involves the construction of ultra-high voltage towers under challenging conditions and precise alignment, making the construction process highly difficult.
At the award ceremony, TNB's Chief Grid Officer (CGO), Hasmarizal bin Hassan, highly commended CHEC's performance, praising the company for its strong sense of responsibility and collaborative spirit, which have provided new momentum for the development of Penang Island.
