Since its opening, the road has significantly improved transportation in southeastern Nigeria and fostered socio-economic development along the route.

Recently, the operations and maintenance (O&M) phase of the Keffi-Makurdi expressway, built by CHEC, officially commenced. This marks a new phase in the road's lifecycle, contributing to Nigeria's development of a modern transport network that supports economic growth.
As Nigeria's first federally operated and toll-charging highway, the road stretches approximately 227.2 kilometers, connecting the capital city, Abuja, with the southeast of the country. The road's upgrade and expansion began in April 2019 and were completed and handed over in March 2023. Since its opening, it has significantly improved transportation in southeastern Nigeria and fostered socio-economic development along the route.
The successful operation of the road will ensure its long-term upkeep, improving safety, traffic efficiency, and extending its service life while reducing the costs of reconstruction.
Nigerian businessman Ibrahim Seriki said that they highly appreciate this road, as it promotes commercial development and boosts prosperity along its path.
