World's longest highway tunnel under construction completes tunneling
In late December, the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel on the Urumqi-Yuli Expressway completed tunneling after nearly six years of construction. Wang Tongzhou, Chairman of CCCC, attended the completion ceremony.
Stretching approximately 22.13 kilometers with a maximum depth of 1,112.6 meters, the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel is the longest highway tunnel under construction globally. Once the 320-kilometer Urumqi-Yuli Expressway is completed, travel time between Urumqi and Yuli will be reduced from over seven hours to just around three hours.
The project team employed an innovative combination of the three-hole TBM tunneling and main tunnel blasting, leveraging the efficiency of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) to accelerate progress. Additionally, over 100 new construction methods and technologies were developed to overcome challenges posed by the complex geological conditions.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister attends the housing project in Colombo
On December 27, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the housing project in Colombo. The project spans a total construction area of approximately 160,000 square meters, providing 1,996 housing units. It aims to improve the living conditions of Sri Lankan residents.
World's largest pile-driving vessel delivered
On January 5, the "Erhang Changqing" pile-driving vessel, built by ZPMC, was successfully delivered. This milestone marks a new era for China's marine engineering equipment manufacturing.
Measuring 130.5 meters in length with a derrick height of 150 meters, the vessel can drive pile foundations weighing up to 700 tons and with a diameter of up to 7 meters. Compared to traditional pile-driving vessels, it is more environmentally friendly and intelligent. It features a hybrid power system with permanent magnet motors, resulting in reduced fuel consumption and lower carbon emissions. The vessel can calculate pile positioning automatically before driving, monitor safety in real time, detect operational workflows, and generate construction reports. It can also achieve centimeter-level positioning accuracy even in deep offshore operations.
First Metro Line of Bogota begins track laying
The track-laying phase of the First Metro Line of Bogota has officially commenced, marking a significant milestone in the project's construction. This progress is essential for future system testing and the eventual opening of the metro line.
Congo (DRC) Kisangani-Beni road project completes the test for asphalt pavement
