By 3 PM on July 3rd, just 72 hours after opening, the traffic volume of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link had reached 305,000 vehicles, with peak hour traffic on the first day exceeding 8,000 vehicles per hour.
Spanning the Lingdingyang Channel, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link officially opened to traffic. By 3 PM on July 3rd, just 72 hours after opening, the traffic volume had reached 305,000 vehicles, with peak hour traffic on the first day exceeding 8,000 vehicles per hour.
The west artificial island of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link supports the cross-sea bridge on one side and the immersed tube underwater tunnel on the other, tightly connecting the metropolitan areas on both sides of the Pearl River estuary.
During the construction of the west artificial island, the construction team of CCCC faced complex geological challenges in the Pearl River estuary. They enhanced geological exploration, and used the innovative DSM (deep slurry mixing) technology, and implemented large diameter steel cylinder island construction technology for the island. This approach not only enhanced stability and reduced the impact on the marine environment but also set a new world record for the speed of constructing artificial islands.
