Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway sets record high in passenger volume

An increasing number of people are choosing to travel by train, making trains an important mode of transportation for passengers in Kenya.

By January 2024, the passenger volume of the Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway had increased by 17.9% compared to 2023, reaching a new high of 2.73 million passengers. 
Freight volume has continued to rise, with a total of 6.53 million tons of goods transported, exceeding the 6.01 million tons in 2022.
Due to the reliability, convenience, and affordability of the railway, an increasing number of people are choosing to travel by train, making trains an important mode of transportation for passengers in Kenya.
