In February 2023, the Voi Station of the Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway recorded a total of 8,251 passenger trips, a year-on-year increase of 67%.
Voi town is located about 330 kilometers southeast of Kenya's capital Nairobi, adjacent to Kenya's largest national park, Tsavo, making the town a hub for incoming tourists.
Since February 1, the E1/2 trains have been stopping at Voi Station, resulting in a significant increase in domestic and international passengers arriving in Voi town, effectively boosting the development of local tourism industry.
