The opening-to-traffic of the expressway will further improve the expressway network in the north region of Shandong.

Recently, the 108-kilometer-long Zhahua-Linyi Expressway invested and built by First Highway Engineering, a subsidiary of CCCC, in Shandong was opened to traffic. The Zhanhua-Linyi Yellow River super-large bridge, a key project of the whole line, has the largest span in the lower reaches of the Yellow River.
The bridge has a total length of 4,630 meters with its main part reaching 962 meters. The project team adopted deck slabs using UHPC without coarse aggregates and whole-sectioned incremental launching technique to build the bridge, and the technique is firstly applied in the bridge construction in the Yellow River basin.
Compared with conventional deck slabs, the thickness of deck slabs using UHPC without coarse aggregates is decreased by three-fifths and the strength is increased by three times.
The incremental launching structure has a weight over 27,000 tons. The project team adopted an intelligent walking-style incremental launching system, and installed the deck slabs and steel structures through remote automatic control in one go.
The bridge is closed on on August 8, 2022
The bridge is opened to traffic on December 9, 2022
The opening-to-traffic of the expressway will further improve the expressway network in the north region of Shandong.
