Danjiangkou Reservoir Bridge successfully completed

The longest-span partially earth anchored hybrid girder cable-stayed built by CCCC was fully completed.
Recently, the longest-span partially earth anchored hybrid girder cable-stayed built by CCCC - the Danjiangkou Reservoir Bridge of the Shixi Expressway in China’s Hubei Province was fully completed, laying a solid foundation for the opening of the Shixi Expressway at the end of the year.
The Danjiangkou Reservoir Bridge is 1076 meters long with a span of 760 meters, 4 lanes, and a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
Green Construction
During the construction of the bridge, the project team has always upheld the concept of green development. They developed the "steel-concrete cofferdam", which has effectively isolated the clear water in the reservoir from the construction area, avoiding the impact to the reservoir by construction.
The water of productive use is treated collectively by sewage treatment equipment, and a third-party professional organization is introduced to monitor and manage 26 data items such as water quality, soil, air and noise around the project area.
The wastewater and waste from the living area are recycled for treatment, sandbags are set along the construction area to block the sewage, the bare soil area is covered in time to prevent landslides, and environmental protection measures such as the fog cannon dust suppression system and water sprinkling on the construction road are applied to achieve zero pollution and zero emission.
Technical Breakthrough
The bridge has applied the world's largest connection device in the span, which is like a spring, assisting the main beam to better cope with various forces, and the structure is durable and easy to maintain and repair, greatly improving the reliability and the lifespan of the bridge.
The installation of this device is the last important process of the bridge, the project team, achieved millimeter-level high-precision connection of the beam by making a special construction plan, and provide reference experience for the research and application of this structure system.
In September 2019, the bridge was officially started, and on December 30, 2021, the main tower was topped out, and on August 20, 2022, the bridge was completed.
As the expressway connecting Hubei and Henan, the Shixi Expressway will link the Three Gorges Reservoir, the Danjiangkou Reservoir, Hubei Shennongjia, Wudang Mountains and Mount Laojun in Henan Province and other five scenic spots after completion, promote the rapid development of the regional tourism along the route, and become a road to green development, trips and wealth.
