On June 30, the handover of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) expansion project in Guyana, constructed by CRBC, a subsidiary of CCCC, was successfully completed. The handover ceremony was attended by Juan Anthony Edghill, Guyanese Minister of Public Works, Guo Haiyan, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, Hu Hanming, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy, and Ramesh Ghir. At the press conference, Edghill said that CRBC, as a well-known international contractor, overcame the adverse effects such as the epidemic and performed the contract efficiently and perfectly, fully demonstrating the excellent fulfilling capability of a world-class company. He also mentioned Pegasus Hotel Guyana and the newly started AC Marriott hotel constructed by the company, and hoped that CRBC would continue its efforts to build more landmark buildings for Guyana, and also participate in the oil and gas industry chains as early as possible to meet the development needs of Guyana.
Ambassador Guo Haiyan pointed out at the conference that the handover of the airport project as scheduled fully demonstrated CRBC's responsibility. She stressed that June 27 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Guyana, and the handover of the project push the celebration of the anniversary to a new climax.
Finally, the handover ceremony was successfully held in the presence of Edghill and Guo Haiyan and local mainstream media. From now on, Guyana has the first international airport with the Level 4E standard and the longest runway in the Caribbean, and has the basic conditions to become an aviation hub in the region. The smooth handover of the project has given a strong impetus to the local economy.
