Recently, the largest wharf under construction in the Philippines and the largest coal unloading wharf for supercritical coal power plant in the Philippines constructed by CCCC, was handed over to the owner.
The project is located in Bataan Province, Luzon Island, Philippines, and the construction started in December 2016. The project will build a 560-meter-long coal unloading jetty, which can accommodate 160,000-ton vessels, and a 550-meter-long barge project. The project will install a 1,500-meter-long high-density polyethylene (HDPE) intake and discharge pipeline underwater. The pipeline has an internal diameter of 3.3 meters, which is the largest underwater HDPE pipeline in the world.

During the construction, for the special geological conditions of the sea where the project is located, the project team upgraded the piling process and built a solid construction platform. Faced with the difficult problem of installing a 1,500-meter-long intake and discharge pipeline in the deep sea, the project team decisively gave up the traditional plan and used mechanical equipment available to make the pipeline hanger, then used a pile-driving vessel to lift the pipeline section by section and finally installed it underwater.
In order to ensure the smooth closing up of the pipeline, the team set up measurement towers on the vessel, combined with the GPS positioning system, underwater cameras, underwater manual review and other means to ensure the accuracy of the installation.
After the completion of the project, relevant departments of the Philippine government and the owner visited the power plant wharf many times and expressed their satisfaction for China's advanced technology and fine technics, and the wharf has become a shining business card of the whole power plant project.
The completion of the coal unloading wharf will open up the energy channel for the power plant, and the power plant will greatly ease the power shortage and boost the rapid development of the region.
