On May 31, the Guiyang-Huangping Highway invested and built by CCCC was opened to traffic, opening the most convenient high-speed channel from Guiyang to the Yangtze River Delta.
The 6-lane Guiyang-Huangping Highway is linked to the Yuqing-Kaili Expressway. Its main line is 120.6 kilometers long with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
A beautiful road above the clouds
The Guiyang-Huangping Highway includes 80 bridges and 14 tunnels, with the ratio of bridges and tunnels exceeding 40%. The key projects include three bridges and four tunnels and two interchanges. The three bridges all span steep and deep canyons, and are typical representatives of suspension bridges, beam bridges and arch bridges respectively. Yangbao Mountain Bridge is the first six-lane suspension bridge in Guizhou Province, with a main span of 650 meters. Wumei River Bridge is a reinforced concrete arch bridge with a concrete-filled steel tubular, a main span of 300 meters and a height of 198 meters. Ganxi Bridge is a vierendeel bridge, with a main span of 300 meters. ranking the first bridge of its kind in the world. The highway is surrounded by the lucid waters and lush mountains under the cloudy sky, like a fairyland on earth.
A road of scientific and technological innovation
The project solves construction problems with scientific and technological innovation, creating many industry-leading new technologies and techniques, which not only improves efficiency, safety and quality, but also promotes the technical progress of bridge and tunnel construction. The project is the first of its kind in China to use the air spinning method to erect the main cable, effectively solving the difficulties such as main cable construction of suspension bridges in mountains, and oversized span (more than 2000 meters) suspension bridges with poor transportation, filling the relevant technical gaps in China. Longchang Tunnel adopts the new technology of full-process mechanized tunnel construction, equipped with the intelligent three-arm rock drilling rig and other intelligent equipment, which significantly reduces manual operation. The project's safety and quality are guaranteed and construction efficiency is improved. The cable installation system of the main arch of Wume River Bridge adopts Beidou positioning technology, which effectively improves the accuracy of arch rib erection. The research on low-odor asphalts effectively reduces the pollution caused by asphalt concrete pavement to the environment.

An eco-friendly and green road
Within the Ganxi National Forest Park, after optimizing the plan for the Yangbao Mountain Bridge, vegetation damage was reduced by more than 90%. At the entrance of Jiaduo Tunnel, in order to protect a hundred-year old pine, the project puts the pine in the green belt in the middle of the highway and took good care of it, avoiding relocation and destruction of it and creating a unique sightseeing spot. Through various measures such as zero excavation at the tunnel entrance, carefully-selected gravel-soil-taken field and spoil ground, green design optimization, plant restoration, the whole line has saved more than 600 mu of land and relocated and protected thousands of rare trees.
A road of hope for rural revitalization
During the construction of the highway, the project has offered 450 jobs for low income families, and organized technical training for them, which has not only provided them with stable income, but also taught them skills. The project has also built a 50-kilometer-long road to facilitate the travel of villagers living in the mountains, such as Guiding, Xianqiao and Luping. More than 200 kilometers of construction roads are left to local people, becoming a road of happiness to the village.
The Guiyang-Huangping Highway's opening to traffic, has not only effectively improved the highway traffic network in the southern and southeastern region of Guizhou Province, but also has become the most convenient high-speed channel for Guiyang to reach the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone.
