Recently, the first batch of port machinery equipment, including threeship-to-shore gantry cranes (STS) and 10 rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTG), was officially set sail from Shanghai to Lekki Port, Nigeria. The completion of this key node has laid a solid foundation for the planned operation of Lekki Port.
The port machinery equipment includes a total of 5 STSs and 15 RTGs, which are supplied by CCCC's subsidiary Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., and are planned to be shipped in two batches. The second batch of port machinery equipment has also been completed by 95%, including two STSs and five RTGs, and it will undergo factory acceptance test in June this year.
At present, there is no such a large rail-mounted container gantry crane equipped in operating ports in Nigeria. After being equipped with this equipment, the Lekki Port will have higher loading and unloading efficiency than other competing ports after its operation, and will provide a powerful support for Lekki Port to become the first large-scale deep-water port in Nigeria, to greatly improve the container throughput capacity of Nigeria, and to further promote China-Nigeria production capacity cooperation.
