Recently, the Mengzhou-Yanshi Yellow River Super-Large Bridge on the National Highway 207 and the linking-up road project passed the acceptance check, marking that the project meets the requirements for opening. The Mengzhou Yellow River Super-Large Bridge, a key project, is China's first one with fabricated steel-concrete composite girder crossing the Yellow River and many construction techniques are applied for the first time in China.
With the project's total length of about 18.39 kilometers, the bridge has a total length of about 3,007 meters. The project is composed of the construction of the bridge, culverts, service areas, toll stations, monitor subcenters, and supporting facilities. Original techniques of China are applied in the construction of the bridge for the first time including settling an 80-meter-long box girder with two parts and an integral hole through a super-large bridge building machine, and fabricating a 50-meter-long W-shape girder with an integral hole, and casting the upper and bottom boards in one go.
In the construction, the project team has scientifically planned, promoted, and finished all the construction tasks with concerted efforts.
Upon completion, the project will extend the National Highway 207, and have great significance for refining the highway network of Henan Province, improving regional driving and transportation conditions, as well as boosting the collaborative development on both sides of the Yellow River.
