Recently, the Nairobi Expressway designed, built, and run by CRBC under CCCC started trial operation in Nairobi, Kenya.

Recently, the expressway designed, built, and run by CRBC under CCCC started trial operation in Nairobi, Kenya. The expressway will shorten the travel time between the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to downtown Nairobi from 2 hours to 20 minutes.

James Macharia, the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development attended the opening-to-traffic ceremony, rode a car on the expressway, and learned about ticket pickup at the toll stations, the ETC service, and toll collector standardization. He said that the expressway was one of the best pieces of infrastructure ever done in Africa and also a good example of cooperation between the Kenyan government and the foreign-funded enterprise.
As the first PPP highway project, the Nairobi Expressway project was co-developed by CRBC and the Kenyan government in a BOT model. With a franchise period of 30 years and a total length of 27.1 kilometers, the project began in September, 2020. With the National Museums of Kenya, the National Stadium, and the Parliament Buildings along the way, the project connects the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi Station of the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, as well as round roads and downtown area of Nairobi.
The operation of the project will effectively release the traffic congestion in downtown Nairobi, improve the city's international image, create plenty of jobs for local people, further boost Kenyan economic and social development, and help Kenya become the economic and cultural center in the eastern part of Africa.
