The phase-3 desalination project in Shuqaiq City, Jazan Region, Saudi Arabia constructed by CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering was successfully completed.
The project is mainly to construct HDPE pipelines with a diameter of 2.2 meters and a total length of 7,438 meters and offshore auxiliary facilities for the phase-3 desalination plant with a daily output of 450,000 cubic meters of drinking water in Shuqaiq.
During the implementation of the project, the team of Fourth Harbor Engineering actively organized the construction and production to ensure the successful achievement of project targets, relying on the seven years of large-scale HDPE pipeline construction experience in Saudi Arabia, as well as the successful experience of the two HDPE pipeline projects of Jazan JIGCC water intake and drainage and Jazan Economic City Commercial Port. In order to solve the problems such as the midway relocation and reconstruction of the pipeline prefabrication and transportation site, the project team first proposed a solution for the offshore storage process of HDPE pipe sections. It not only realized the optimization of construction schedule and cost but also met the requirements of construction progress, promoting the project benefits.
Saudi Arabia has a serious shortage of water resources, and 70% of its drinking water comes from desalination. After being completed, the project will provide water intake and drainage services for the desalination plant and improve the supply capacity of local freshwater resources.
