Recently, the Taihu tunnel in Jiangsu Province, China's longest underwater highway tunnel has been open to traffic. CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. participated in the construction of the project.
As a key node of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou South Expressway, the Taihu tunnel has a total length of 10.79 kilometers. The two-hole and one-tube corridor structure was adopted, with a single hole on both sides having a clear width of 17.45 meters and a clear height of 7.25 meters, and a tube corridor in the middle. The construction team built the tunnel from the shore to the lake section by section. The tunnel is currently the longest passageway under a lake ever built in China.
The opening of the tunnel has directly connected the ring expressways of the three cities of Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou, effectively relieved the traffic pressure of the Wuxi and Suzhou sections of the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, and promoted the urban construction of Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou and the economic development of the Yangtze River Delta.
