The 5th Nairobi City Marathon was recently held on the Nairobi Expressway in Nairobi, Kenya.
This year's event, themed "Feel the Pulse of Nairobi," attracted more than 17,000 participants from 75 countries and regions, setting a new record for participation.
Since its inaugural edition in 2022, held when the expressway first opened, the Nairobi City Marathon has continued to grow in scale, public attention, and brand influence, becoming a high-level sporting event with impact across Africa and beyond.

The Nairobi Expressway, invested in, built, and operated by China Road and Bridge Corporation, stretches 27.1 kilometers. Designed as a six-lane dual carriageway, it links the international airport with the central business district, passing major landmarks such as the Parliament Buildings and the National Museums. The expressway has significantly eased urban traffic congestion, enhanced Nairobi's international image, and supported Kenya's socio-economic development.

While preparing for the event, the expressway operator organized tree-planting activities at key exits and the finish area, and installed climate monitoring equipment. Jackson Tuwei, President of Athletics Kenya, praised the project's efforts to address climate change and improve air quality.
As a key venue for the event, the Nairobi Expressway, with its open, green, and efficient urban infrastructure, offered participants a uniquely distinctive city course.
