A representative of the Bogotá municipal government said the project will meaningfully improve urban mobility, reducing commute times and making public transport more accessible.
The project company and management team of Bogotá Metro Line 1 have been commended by the Bogotá City Council for their outstanding contribution to the project—marking the first time a Chinese infrastructure enterprise has received this recognition.
A representative of the Bogotá municipal government said the project will meaningfully improve urban mobility, reducing commute times and making public transport more accessible. It is also expected to support the city's economic growth, create jobs, and drive the upgrading of related industries, thereby enhancing overall competitiveness. The representative also commended the project for strictly adhering to occupational health and safety standards and for upholding principles of environmental protection and sustainable development throughout its implementation.
As Bogotá's first metro line, the project adopts GoA4 fully automated, driverless train operation and advanced technologies such as PHC pipe pile construction methods. According to the World Bank, once completed, the line is expected to create around 27,000 jobs and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 17 million tonnes annually.
