The company advanced skills development and cultural exchange to support Ethiopia's social and economic progress.

For more than three decades in Ethiopia, CCCC has delivered close to 200 projects spanning highways, airports, and urban development—including the Addis Ababa Ring Road, the Addis Ababa–Adama Expressway, the Riverside Green Development Project, Terminal I of Bole International Airport, and Shebelle Resort—contributing to the transformation of the capital's urban landscape.
Beyond infrastructure, the company advanced skills development and cultural exchange—through the Seagull Talent Training Project and long-distance relay events—supporting Ethiopia's social and economic progress.
Riverside Green Development Project
Now a popular public space in Addis Ababa, the project has revitalized the urban waterfront—adding green walkways, open spaces, and improved river ecology.
Addis Ababa Ring Road
In July 2025, the project was recognized by the United Nations as a Global Sustainable Transport Best Practice. Running through the heart of Addis Ababa, the corridor has improved regional logistics efficiency by approximately 30% and driven a 300% increase in land value along the route. The project also incorporates energy-efficient infrastructure and smart lighting systems, offering a replicable model for sustainable urban development.
Addis Ababa–Adama Expressway
Ethiopia's first expressway, spanning approximately 78.6 km, was built using Chinese standards and technology. Since opening in April 2014, it has reduced travel time between Addis Ababa and Adama from over two hours to about one hour.
Terminal I of Bole International Airport
Since undertaking the project in 2013, CCCC has expanded its footprint in Ethiopia's aviation sector. Following expansion, Bole International Airport has increased its annual passenger capacity from 7 million to 30 million, becoming one of the busiest aviation hubs in East Africa.
Bishoftu International Airport
Once completed, the airport is expected to become one of Africa's largest and most advanced aviation hubs, strengthening Ethiopia's position in regional air transport.
Addis Ababa National Stadium
Designed as a 60,000-seat venue to support major international events, including Africa Cup of Nations, the stadium will become one of the largest and highest-standard sports facilities in East Africa, capable of hosting top-tier football and athletics competitions.
Addis Tomorrow Special Economic Zone
This large-scale urban complex—350,000 m² total floor area—applies green building standards, smart city principles, and prefabricated construction. Upon completion, it will serve as Addis Ababa's new urban center.
The three-building project in La Gare
This high-end urban complex integrates commercial and residential functions, featuring hotels, apartments, commercial streets, plazas and supporting facilities. The first phase of the project is expected to be delivered ahead of schedule in June 2026, and it will then become a new commercial landmark in Addis Ababa.
Shebelle Resort
In February 2026, the project was completed in the presence of Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia; Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, President of Djibouti; and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of Somalia. The resort will create a large number of job opportunities for the local area and drive regional economic development.
Sof Omar Resort Project
This project is aimed at promoting the tourism development of the Sof Omar Cave. A dam with a height of 127 meters will be built about 19 kilometers upstream of the Sof Omar Cave. It will effectively guarantee the irrigation water supply for the farmlands downstream and benefit hundreds of thousands of farmers along the line.
Seagull Talent Training Project
The project was launched in 2024, aiming to help local employees grow from mastering professional skills to becoming competent management personnel. By the end of 2025, a total of 134 employees had been trained. As of the end of 2025, the proportion of CCCC's local employees in Ethiopia reached 92.8%, among which the management staff accounted for 8.8%.
Friendship Relay Race
Ethiopia is known as the "home of long-distance running in Africa". In 2004, the Addis Ababa Ring Road was opened to traffic, and CCCC initiated the first friendship relay race from this point. Since then, the event has never been interrupted and has been successfully held for 20 consecutive years, becoming an annual event that the Ethiopian people look forward to. The event has set "road traffic safety" as a fixed theme, continuously advocating safe travel to enhance the public's awareness of traffic safety.
Public welfare & community support
While delivering infrastructure projects, CCCC advances local development through school renovations and free medical clinics. In May 2024, a renovated primary school in Oromia opened—The principal said: "Thank you, Chinese friends, for giving our children such a good learning environment." In March 2025, a free clinic in the Amhara restored sight for an elderly patient with long-standing eye disease; he told doctors: "You are my savior—I'll never forget this." These actions embody China-Ethiopia friendship in action.
