At the ASEAN–China AI Conference, the ECRL was commended for its contribution to advancing international engineering and technology cooperation in the ASEAN region. The project was recognized for localizing advanced construction technologies and management expertise in Malaysia, significantly enhancing the country's capacity to deliver large-scale projects and manage complex engineering processes, while also raising the overall level of technical excellence across ASEAN.
As Asia's leading forum for tunnelling and underground engineering, the ACTT is dedicated to fostering Asia's technological innovation and regional cooperation. This year's conference focused on sustainable and green tunnelling, digitalization and emerging technologies, and transformative approaches to underground construction, attracting more than 200 experts and young scholars from across the region. The ACTT Award of Excellence for Strategic Industry Contribution for the year 2025 acknowledges the ECRL's strong technical capabilities and efficient project management in the face of highly complex construction conditions. It also underscores the benchmark influence of Chinese enterprises on the global infrastructure stage. China's advanced tunnelling technologies and management systems have not only provided solid support for Malaysia's connectivity ambitions, but also injected fresh momentum into engineering development across Southeast Asia.
