Recently, the Pelješac Bridge in Croatia, constructed by CRBC, celebrated the third anniversary of its opening. Over the past three years, the bridge has significantly boosted local tourism, transportation, and logistics, bringing tangible benefits and convenience to the people of the region.
The bridge is a cable-stayed road bridge, measuring 2,440 meters in length and 22.5 meters in width. It connects mainland Croatia with the Pelješac Peninsula.
For years, a local resident who has made a living primarily by renting apartments to tourists, has been full of praise whenever the new bridge comes up in conversation. She speaks with enthusiasm about the benefits it has brought to Komarna and nearby communities. Since the bridge was completed, she says, improved transportation has made the area more accessible, and even in winter, the flow of visitors has remained steady.
A local hotel owner, shared the sentiment: "Our hotels and restaurants are now open almost year-round." He added that the bridge has become a landmark attraction, drawing many tourists who come specifically to see it.
A winery owner from Dubrovnik, is another beneficiary. Before the bridge, transporting wine to other parts of Croatia required a detour through Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was highly inconvenient. Now, with the bridge in place, delivery times have been greatly reduced and his winery's sales have increased by over 30%.
The mayor of Ston, the municipality responsible for managing the bridge, stated, "In the past three years, the bridge has brought us substantial economic gains."
