Recently, the Global Sustainable Transport Best Practices Compilation 2025 was officially released at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, with the upgrading project the Addis Ababa Ring Road in Ethiopia—constructed by CCCC—awarded the 2025 Global Sustainable Transport Best Practice.
Jointly organized by China's Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center and the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the compilation highlights 22 exemplary cases spanning diverse fields, including transport infrastructure, green low-carbon technologies, digital transformation, and public transport optimization. These best practices offer scalable and replicable solutions for sustainable transport development worldwide.
The upgrading project the Addis Ababa Ring Road spans 4.1 kilometers and features a 10-lane dual carriageway. Upon completion, the project increased regional logistics efficiency by 30% and directly generated tens of thousands of jobs, significantly contributing to Ethiopia’s economic growth.
The project incorporates a series of innovative green solutions, including citywide new energy infrastructure, smart sensor street lighting, rainwater recycling systems, and ecological corridors for wildlife—pioneering a new model for sustainable urban transportation development.
