Recently, the section from Preljina to Pozega of the E763 Highway—constructed by CCCC—officially opened to traffic. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić attended the inauguration ceremony.
In his remarks, Aleksandar Vučić lauded the section as an "unbelievably beautiful" highway and one of Serbia's most important infrastructure projects. He said that all the old, bumpy and winding dirt roads have now been transformed into Serbia's most modern and safest expressway.
As the strategic "bottleneck" of the the E763 Highway, the 30.2-kilometer-long section features a design speed of 120 km/h and a dual four-lane configuration. It is widely regarded as the most technically challenging mountain highway project in the country.
The section comprises 46 bridges and three tunnels, including Serbia's longest highway tunnel—Laz Tunnel—and the second longest—Munjino Brdo Tunnel. The completion of these key engineering works marks a major milestone in Serbia's tunnel construction history.
This newly completed artery not only strengthens Serbia's national expressway network but also removes a key bottleneck between the Adriatic Sea and Central Europe. It effectively integrates southern Serbian cities into the Belgrade economic zone.
Beyond enhancing mobility, the opening of the section from Preljina to Pozega is expected to significantly boost connectivity and logistics across Serbia and the wider Central and Eastern European region. It will promote balanced regional economic development and substantially reduce social transportation costs.
