CCCC launched the world' s first self-propelled aquaculture vessel with a natural water-exchange system in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province. This 10,000-ton intelligent "steel fish farm" marks a new chapter in the technological advancement of deep-sea aquaculture. As a pioneering innovation in the global industry, it represents a major milestone in the practice of smart ocean-based farming.

This 10,000-ton "smart steel fish farm" represents cutting-edge innovation in marine agriculture. Measuring 155.8 meters in length, 44 meters in width, and drawing 20 meters, the vessel houses 12 independent fish farming tanks with a combined water volume of 80,000 cubic meters—equivalent to over 3.3 million square meters of traditional fish ponds. With an annual production capacity of up to 5,000 tons, it is poised to significantly boost seafood supply for the Greater Bay Area. Unlike traditional cage farming, the vessel provides fish with a vastly expanded swimming space, enhancing their health and improving meat quality.
The vessel is equipped with an intelligent management system and an open-style natural water-exchange mechanism, allowing for the simultaneous cultivation of multiple fish species. Dubbed an "AI fish farm," it can autonomously locate optimal water zones for farming. Over 100 smart sensors monitor conditions in real time, and if water quality deteriorates, the system automatically relocates the fish. Compared with manual feeding, its automated feeding efficiency is more than four times higher.
The vessel is fitted with a 30-kilowatt wind power generation system, enabling 100% clean-energy aquaculture while stationary. Its annual carbon reduction is equivalent to planting 5,000 trees. With an all-electric propulsion system, it sails with ultra-low noise, minimizing disturbance to marine life.
Even more remarkable—it serves as a high-tech fish farm by day and transforms into a floating guesthouse by night. This "mobile seafood factory" also features facilities for recreational fishing, marine education, and tourism, offering a versatile platform for both production and leisure.
