On the 25th anniversary of Macau's return to China, let's revisit the remarkable contributions of CCCC to Macau's social and economic growth.
Macau International Airport
China's first airport fully built on reclaimed land. Its completion ended Macau's lack of air travel access and established a critical bridge connecting the Pearl River Delta with the world.
Macau Friendship Bridge
Spanning 4,414 meters, this bridge connects Macau and Taipa. At the time of its construction, it was the longest sea-crossing bridge in Asia.
Underwater Tunnel of Hengqin Campus of the University of Macau
As the link between the new Hengqin Campus of the University of Macau and Macau itself, this 1,570-meter tunnel was China's first undersea tunnel built using cofferdam open excavation. It won the 2015 Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize.
Taipa Line of Macau Light Rapid Transit
Spanning 9.3 kilometers, Macau's first rail transit system connects the city’s major sea, land, and air ports, significantly improving transportation for residents.
Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge
Stretching 55 kilometers across the Lingdingyang Channel, this is the world's longest sea-crossing bridge. Hailed as one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World" by The Guardian, it greatly reduces travel time between Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau, fostering economic integration in the Greater Bay Area.
Macau Port of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge
Covering approximately 658,000 square meters, this project is the largest customs facility connecting the three regions, opening simultaneously with the bridge.
Qingmao Port
A passenger-specific passage connecting Zhuhai and Macau, it primarily features automated clearance systems and is designed to handle 200,000 daily crossings. It began operations in September 2021.
3rd Phase of the Expansion of the Macau Solid Waste Incineration Center
Supporting Macau's green and sustainable development, this project will be operational by August 2024. It features fully automated smart combustion systems, generating over 200 million kWh of electricity annually from incinerated waste and enhancing the city's waste management capacity.
In addition to these landmark projects, CCCC has also undertaken more than 30 other initiatives in Macau, such as the expansion of the New Ferry Terminal in Taipa and the repair works for the Macau Science Center, contributing to advancements across various sectors in Macau.
