Since the BRI was put forward ten years ago, CCCC has been dedicated to participating in infrastructure construction in five Central Asian countries, including highway, tunnel and hydropower projects.

The China-Central Asia Summit was held at the starting point of the ancient Silk Road - Xi'an, Shaanxi Province from May 18th to 19th. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was first proposed in Central Asia. Since the BRI was put forward ten years ago, CCCC has been dedicated to participating in infrastructure construction in five Central Asian countries, including highway, tunnel and hydropower projects which have boosted local economic and social development.

Dushanbe-Chanak Highway

Dushanbe-Chanak Highway, with a total length of 368.2 km, connects Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe with Chanak, the northern border of Uzbekistan. The project was started in 2006 and completed in 2012. It contains the Shakhristan Tunnel, the longest tunnel in Central Asia, and the Syr Darya Bridge, the longest highway bridge in Tajikistan. Its completion has greatly boosted connectivity between Tajikistan and its neighboring countries.

China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Highway

China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Highway, with a total length about 257 km, starts from Irkeshtam in Xinjiang, China, passes through Osh City in South Kyrgyzstan, and ends in Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent. Completed in September, 2012, the highway is a vital passage connecting China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Second South-North Highway Project in Kyrgyzstan

The highway, with a total length of 433 km, has 421 culverts, a super long tunnel and 18 bridges. The project is expected to complete by 2024. Once finished, it will cut the four-hour drive time from Kyrgyzstan's south to north. The highway will become the main transport artery connecting Kyrgyzstan with China and Europe, making a significant impact on Kyrgyzstan's transportation and economic and social development.

No.1 Tunnel of Line D of the China-Central Asia Gas Pipeline

The total length of Line D is 1,000 kilometers, with 840 kilometers of it within Central Asia. The gas line construction in this project is one of the most challenging ones in the whole world.

Turgusun Hydropower Station in Kazakhstan

Located on the Turgusun River, 1,000 kilometers away from the capital Astana, the station has an installed capacity of 24.9 MW. Operated in July, 2021, the plant produces 79.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by about 72,000 tons. The project has effectively eased power shortage in East Kazakhstan Region and significantly reduced the cost of local electricity production.

Moinak Hydro Power Plant in Kazakhstan

Located on the Sharyn River, southeast of Kazakhstan, the plant has an installed capacity of 300 MW. The project was started in July, 2008, and completed in June, 2013. It is the first large-scale hydro plant built in Kazakhstan since the independence of the country. The project has eased power shortage in the region, producing a significant impact on economic development of the South Kazakhstan and the country as a whole.

In addition, CCCC has built the Bishkek Roads renovation project in Kazakhstan, the Shurabad-Anjirobi Poyon Road Rehabilitation Project, container crane spreader projects in the Astana railway freight yard and the Shymkent railway freight yard in Kazakhstan.
