On April 1, the opening ceremony of the New Belgrade-Surcin highway section, a part of the E-763 highway in Serbia, undertaken by CCCC, was held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, and the Chinese ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo also attended the ceremony.
Vucic said that the New Belgrade-Surcin highway section is a modern highway containing bicycle lanes and pedestrian paths, the opening of which will significantly shorten the distance between other cities and Belgrade.
With a total length of about 265 kilometers, the E-763 highway is an important part of the highway network in Serbia and the Serbian section of the Pan-European Transport Corridor XI. With a total length of 7.9 kilometers, the New Belgrade-Surcin section is the starting section of the E-763 highway, connecting the downtown area of Belgrade with the Surcin-Obrenovac section of the E-763 highway, which, also conducted by CCCC, was opened to traffic in 2019.
The New Belgrade-Surcin section is designed for a speed of 80 km/h. Its main construction areas include a roundabout upgrade, an interchange, six bridges, 11 pipe culverts, etc. The section has three lanes in each direction, two-way pedestrian paths, and one-way bicycle lanes.
After the opening of this section, the total mileage of the E-763 highway has reached 140 kilometers, bringing the large and medium-sized cities in southwest Serbia into the 1-hour economic circle of the capital Belgrade, thus benefiting more than 4 million people.
