Recently, Senegalese President Macky Sall visited the CRBC-built bus rapid transit (BRT) project in Dakar, CRBC is a subsidiary of CCCC.
As the first rapid transit project in Senegal as well as the first electric one in sub-Saharan Africa, the 18.3-kilometer-long BRT project connects the coastal city Guédiawaye with downtown Dakar with 23 closed-type BRT stations and 3 hub transfer stations.
Briefed by the project leader on the overall situation, President Sall was satisfied with the project and expressed appreciation and gratitude for the work done by all parties.
He also noted that the electricity-powered BRT project is more environmentally friendly. In the future, the project will be connected with the express trains to the airport, forming a diversified and modern transportation network in the capital.
After completion, the travel time to cross the downtown area will be reduced by half from 90 to 45 minutes, daily passenger throughput will reach 300,000, and carbon emission will be reduced by 60,000 tons each year.
