Uhuru Kenyatta unveils the monument for the opening of Makuba Bridge
In his speech, Uhuru Kenyatta thanked CCCC for its help in infrastructure construction in Mombasa and praised the Makuba Bridge for not only making Mombasa a real island, improving the local environmental protection in the region, but also improving local traffic condition, facilitating people's travel and promoting the development of the local economy.
The Makuba Bridge, designed and built by CCCC, is located in the lagoon of Mombasa harbor and is one of the three passages connecting Mombasa Island. Upon completion, the bridge will significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve driving comfort and make it easier for people to access Mombasa Island. At the same time, by dredging the embankment roads, the seawater circulation paths on both sides of the lagoon will be linked, which will greatly improve the surrounding water environment.
Uhuru Kenyatta commissions Kipevu Oil Terminal at the port of Mombasa
Uhuru Kenyatta said at the ceremony that the Kipevu Oil Terminal is an advanced automated oil and gas terminal. The completion of the new oil terminal will greatly increase the capacity to load and offload all categories of petroleum products and inject new impetus to Kenya's economic development.
The terminal constructed by CCCC is the first modern oil and gas terminal in Kenya with world-leading standards, including four new offshore berths and oil pipeline facilities, which can load and offload crude oil, heavy oil, gasoline, diesel and kerosene at the same time. The completion of the new terminal will greatly enhance Mombasa Port's capacity to load and offload oil and gas, effectively reduce the price of refined oil products in Kenya, and provide a strong impetus to economic development of Kenya and East Africa at large. Since the trial operation, the terminal has efficiently completed the docking and unloading of a number of oil tankers, which is four times more efficient than the old one. It has greatly maximized performance and reduced cost.
