On March 2, the opening ceremony of Cambodia's expanded National Road No. 3 built by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) was held in Takeo Province. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian and Cambodian Senior Minister and the Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol attended the event.

Hun Sen sincerely thanked the Chinese government and people for their selfless help to Cambodia. He said that the expanded National Road No. 3 is an important road connecting the capital Phnom Penh and the southwestern coastal provinces. After the Chinese side's renovation and expansion, the road has become smooth and wide, and the transportation efficiency and safety of traffic have been greatly improved. The road also benefited the economic and social development of the areas along the road. This is another fruitful result from Cambodia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation and the building of the community with a shared future between the two countries, which reflects the iron-clad friend between the two countries.

The 135-km expanded National Road No. 3 is located in the southwest of Cambodia, running through Phnom Penh, Kandal Province, Kampong Speu Province, Takeo Province and Kampot Province. The project started in October 2018 and the preliminary investitgation will be completed in July 2021. During the construction period of the project, the construction team insisted on both epidemic prevention and construction. It has ensured both construction progress and quality, and at the same time has done a good job in epidemic prevention and control, well completed the project 15 months ahead of schedule. The smooth inauguration of the project once again reflects the strong momentum and fruitful results of the pragmatic cooperation between China and Cambodia.
