With 99% of Saudi Arabia's land covered by desert, freshwater resources are extremely scarce. At the Sedra prefabrication plant, the project team came up with a smart solution: turning sewage into ecological water to quench the desert's thirst!
The secret lies in a wastewater treatment equipment imported from China. Through six stages — sedimentation, oxygen regulation, secondary sedimentation, filtration, and purification — sewage is converted into "ecological water." To tackle the challenge of bacterial activity, the team worked on-site at the plant, meticulously adjusting water quality and inflow rates through repeated trials until the microbial colonies finally came to life.
Today, nearly 300 tonnes of ecological water are used daily for road dust control and green maintenance. At the factory entrance, vegetable plots and orchards are thriving — pepper, watermelon, tomatoes, and other crops are growing vigorously. Over the next decade, this system is expected to save the project 19 million yuan.
From wastewater to clean flow, CCCC is using technology to quench the desert's thirst — creating a green model of harmonious coexistence between people and nature.
