On Cambodia's National Tree Planting Day, Kirirom III Hydropower Station, operated by CWE, hosted a public open day event. More than 40 participants, including nearby villagers, teachers and students, and employees' family members, were invited to learn about clean energy and ecological conservation through firsthand experiences. Together, they planted trees and released fish fry around the reservoir and the power station.

The event opened with a promotional video highlighting the station's green development journey. From clean power generation to environmental protection initiatives, participants gained a deeper understanding of the station's achievements since it began operations in 2012.

Kirirom III Hydropower Station began construction in March 2009, with a total installed capacity of 18 megawatts and an average annual power generation of 76.68 million kilowatt-hours.

During the event, the participants planted 120 fruit saplings, including jackfruit and guava trees. Villagers and students were also encouraged to take saplings home and plant them, spreading the concept of green development beyond the power station and into the wider community.

"This not only makes our surroundings greener, but we'll also get to enjoy the fruit we grow ourselves. It's a really worthwhile activity," said a participating villager.

The participants also released nearly 13,000 fish fry, including tilapia and catfish, into the reservoir, helping replenish aquatic resources while reflecting the station's commitment to balancing development with environmental protection.

Finally, guided by engineers, the participants visited the power station to learn about hydropower generation and the station's key role in flood control, flood-season preparedness, and ensuring energy supply. The visit gave them a more direct understanding of clean energy.

The event strengthened ties between the power station and local communities, raised environmental awareness, and delivered both ecological and social benefits.
