Recently, the company operating and maintaining the Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway, the Africa Star Railway Operation Company (Afristar), donated items such as crutches and wheelchairs to the Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK), providing assistance to 103 disabled individuals.
Anthony Nzuki, CEO of APDK, expressed his gratitude for the donation from Afristar and praised the company for bringing warmth, kindness and care to disabled individuals.
Cedric Makau, a 13-year-old donee, was thrilled to receive a wheelchair, saying "I am very happy and grateful for this kind gesture from Afristar, which will help me in my daily life at school and elsewhere." Another donee, Delias, said "This crutch is very meaningful to me. I am very grateful to Afristar and APDK."
Afristar has always actively fulfilled its corporate social responsibility in the three major areas: education, healthcare, and environmental protection to advocate people's wellbeing.
