Ten Jamaican university students begin internship at Montego Bay Perimeter Road project

The project team will further strengthen cooperation with Jamaican vocational and technical institutions, exploring new models for local workforce development and injecting fresh momentum into the growth of skilled talent in Jamaica.

Recently, ten outstanding students from nine Jamaican universities and colleges began a two-week technical internship at the Montego Bay Perimeter Road project, undertaken by CHEC. The internship covers three specialized areas: welding, plumbing, and building construction technology.

At the internship kickoff ceremony, the project manager introduced the project's background and progress in local talent development, encouraging students to seize this hands-on learning opportunity and make full use of the project platform to enhance their technical skills. A safety engineer also conducted a comprehensive safety training session.
Since the project's commencement, the project team has made significant efforts to develop local talent. Initiatives include conducting six rounds of skill certification programs jointly with Jamaica's HEART/NSTA Trust, establishing a training base with the University of the West Indies, and organizing international occupational health and safety management system training in collaboration with the Bureau of Standards Jamaica. Looking ahead, the project team will further strengthen cooperation with Jamaican vocational and technical institutions, exploring new models for local workforce development and injecting fresh momentum into the growth of skilled talent in Jamaica.
