In Xi'an, a city with over 3,100 years of history, a cross-border exchange of knowledge is underway. Thirty-nine Colombian trainees are undergoing a year-long professional training program that will prepare them to become key operators of Bogota Metro Line 1.
Selected from over 2,000 applicants, these outstanding trainees are receiving systematic instruction covering the full spectrum of metro operations—from equipment maintenance to service etiquette. "The training is intense but incredibly rewarding," said trainee Jessica. "Learning Chinese is a challenge, but our mentors have been tremendously supportive."
Built by CHEC, the 23.86 km Bogota Metro Line 1 is the first urban rail transit project in Colombia's capital. Scheduled for operation in 2028, the line will serve as the backbone of Bogota's public transport network and a vital artery for passenger flow.
Projections indicate the metro will benefit nearly 3 million residents. Its all-electric system is expected to slash annual gasoline consumption by 19 million gallons and cut carbon dioxide emissions by over 170,000 metric tons.
