The project has garnered several accolades, including the 2022 Afrika Mashariki Transport Awards and the 2024 Africa Mashariki Transport Award.

Recently, the Nairobi Expressway hosted a "Science and Technology Month" Open Day event. Over a dozen engineers from the Kenya National Highways Authority, Engineers Board of Kenya, and other organizations attended the event.
Attendees toured the toll stations and operations control center, exploring the advanced intelligent transportation system comprising toll collection systems, automatic recognition technologies, big data, and cloud computing. They engaged in in-depth discussions and hands-on demonstrations with road maintenance professionals on smart transportation solutions.
The Nairobi Expressway, which links Nairobi's city center to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, spans 27.1 kilometers. Since its opening on July 31, 2022, it has reduced travel time between the two places from two hours to just 20 minutes. The project has garnered several accolades, including the 2022 Afrika Mashariki Transport Awards and the 2024 Africa Mashariki Transport Award.
A pioneer in Kenya, the expressway introduced the ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) system, dramatically improving traffic flow efficiency. To date, the expressway has handled over 46 million vehicle trips, with an average weekday traffic volume exceeding 75,000 vehicles. ETC payments now account for 78% of all transactions.
