Recently, engineers from the West Container Terminal at Sri Lanka's Port of Colombo, an automated terminal equipped by ZPMC, visited a local secondary school to inspire students and guide them toward their dreams. Through vivid storytelling and a series of colorful port photos, they opened a window for the students to explore the fascinating world of modern ports.
Quay cranes stand as the port's pillars, linking giant vessels with the shore. Rubber-tyred gantry cranes and rail-mounted gantry cranes move among stacks of containers in the yard. Through these port facilities and the smart terminal system, Sri Lanka's Ceylon tea, fruit, automobiles, and other goods are safely and efficiently shipped to markets around the world.
Their engaging and fascinating explanations filled the classroom with bursts of amazement. The students asked, "How can we become engineers like you?" "Will future ports become even more advanced?" The activity not only broadened the students' horizons but also sparked their interest in port construction.
The team presented the Sri Lankan students with branded souvenirs and stationery, encouraging them to stay curious about the world and sustain their passion for learning.
