In Karak's new village, Bentong District, Pahang, Malaysia, a new 42-meter-long, 6-meter-wide steel trestle bridge has replaced an old, unsafe wooden suspension bridge over the river.
Built and donated by the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project department, the bridge cuts villagers'travel time to nearby farmland from a 45-minute detour to just 10 minutes. It enables safe two-way vehicle access, improving daily mobility and goods transportation.
The bridge significance goes well beyond improved connectivity.—it ends years of risky crossings, boosts the transport efficiency of agricultural supplies and produce, and supports rural economic development. As a public-welfare project directly addressing community needs, it has strengthened trust and friendship between the ECRL team and local residents.
