When the road opens to traffic, travel time between Oyem and Mongomo will be slashed from two hours to just thirty minutes.

After a heavy downpour, the road connecting Oyem, a northern city in Gabon, to Mongomo on the Equatorial Guinean border turned into a muddy stretch once again.
"Don't worry—this is the last section that needs to be leveled. Next time you come, you won't find roads like this anymore," said a chief of a nearby village and an employee of the road rehabilitation project in Oyem by CCCC.
The project involves the rehabilitation of 18 main roads in Oyem, totaling 29.6 kilometers. Once completed, it will significantly improve local traffic conditions, enhance connectivity between urban and rural areas, and benefit tens of thousands of residents. It will also boost trade and economic exchanges with neighboring countries such as Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon.
Paving new paths: Asphalt construction underway in Oyem
When the road opens to traffic, travel time between Oyem and Mongomo will be slashed from two hours to just thirty minutes.
So far, the project has created over 500 jobs for local residents and trained professionals in fields such as surveying, testing, and construction management.
"Nowadays, more and more young people in Gabon are eager to work for Chinese companies—some even return from the capital, Libreville, for the opportunity," said the village chief. "Once this road is built, our village will be full of life again."
